Camas – OES Race 4 Report

This past weekend (July 14th) saw the Oregon Enduro circus invade the hills outside of Camas Washington. The trails Thrillium and Cold Creek provided one of most extreme enduro courses in North America that turned the tables on the XC oriented riders that have been dominating the series so far. There was still a surprising amount of pedaling mixed into the course, which made tire choice very important. Heavier DH tires would grip better and provide better protection from flats, but single ply trail tires were much faster on most sections.

That’s Mt St. Helens and Mt. Rainer in the background. The serene setting was in contrast to the boulder field this section of trail heads into.

This big, high speed step-down, known as Godzilla, greats riders as they come out of the forest and into the fast, bike-park like section of the course.

The new Mega AMs arrived in time for this race and the slack and stiff frames, coupled with plush Marzocchi suspension, shined on the rough and sketchy course.
